Every year brings a fresh wave of ‘trends’ that mostly amount to noise. 2026 is different — three shifts are actually changing how client sites get built, and all three are things we’re shipping in production work right now, not just experimenting with on the side.
Kinetic gradients replace static hero images
Flat hero banners are quietly disappearing. In their place: slow-moving gradient meshes that shift as you scroll, giving a page a pulse without demanding a single line of copy be read first. It’s cheap to build and expensive-looking to watch.
AI-assisted layout, human-approved craft
Teams are using AI to generate first-pass layout variations fast, then spending their saved hours polishing type, spacing, and motion by hand. The output looks hand-crafted because the parts that matter still are.
The common thread across all of this: sites are getting faster to prototype and slower to finalize. Teams spend less time deciding what to build and more time making it feel right.
